The Maine Presidential primary is on March 5th. Here is what you need to know:

 

Where and when:  See the Auburn Maine official web site for information about polling information. 

What: Selection of candidates for the November 5, 2024 Presidential election.

Voting options:

  • If you are enrolled in the Democratic party, you must receive a Democratic ballot.

  • If you are enrolled in the Republican party, you must receive a Republican ballot.

  • If you are Unenrolled, you may receive either a Democratic or a Republican ballot. This does not enroll you in either party.

  • If you are enrolled in the Green Independent, Libertarian, or No Labels party, you may not receive a primary ballot. These parties are not participating in the Presidential primary.

Early and absentee voting is available now.

You can pick up an absentee ballot at City Hall or request one online here.. You can return your absentee ballot to the City Clerk's Office or place it in the ballot drop-box at Auburn Hall, 60 Court Street.  The box is located just outside City Hall, in the courtyard between the Auburn Hall and the Mechanic's Row parking garage. The ballot box is WALK-up only and is not accessible by vehicle.

ABSENTEE BALLOTS MUST BE RETURNED TO THE MUNICIPAL CLERK BY 8:00 PM ON ELECTION DAY

NOTE from the Office of the Secretary of State: "This year marks the beginning of Maine’s shift to Semi-Open Primaries. If someone is enrolled in a specific party, they may only vote in that party’s primary. If someone is unenrolled (has no party affiliation), then they can vote in any ONE party’s primary of their choice. This applies to the Presidential and State Primaries."
